Mercedes: I took all of my music with me the next day, and recording began. I thought the work would never be over. When the studio got the records made, it was only about a week after I had finished recording them. I was pounded with promotion events. I couldn't seem to get away from my own voice. "The Re-birth of Woman" was the album title, it was a two-disc set which covered songs from the saddest of songs, to the happiest. I called Ell: listen, I need a week. Just one week, can you arrange it please?

Ell : Mercedes, you just got back, but you have finished those discs . I'll check with Rudy and get back to you, will you be at this number for the next 2 hours? yes, ok , I'll get back to you.
Ell : Rudy wasn't a happy camper but we managed to shuffle things around but she would be ours for the the next 4 to 6 months. That's what I told her when I found her.
