She was angry now . I was a ways away when I caught her words and started walking back. This was too much! She wasn't going to let it go. I had a few choices, I could walk away, even though I had started walking toward her . Or We could go some where and finish thrashing it out and see where it led us . Did I want to? I didn't know but I had turned and I was walking toward her. I guess I would.
She had turned now, not waiting . So who was walking away from this .. Whatever it was that we were having. Resignedly I followed. I wasn't going to chase her, I would walk.
I let the whole of her conversation go through my head one more time as I climbed the steps to her apartment. A lot of it was just garbage she had used to get me here. She knew I had never treated her like a whore. She also knew that I did listen to her. As a matter of fact, from all the trash she was throwing at me, she was the one who wasn't hearing what I was saying!
She had succeeded in turning up my temper yet one more time. I reached the landing her apartment was on and saw the open door, and stamped in.
