Taylor's death and her childs birth kept Sheridan with Mel longer because, although everyone knew by then that Taylor was Brien's and that Brien and Dionne could have raised laurel themselves, Brien made no move to take her from Sheri. Mel silently felt that Brien owed it to him , Mel and was grudgingly grateful to Brien for it.

Dionne and Sheridan were best friends. Sheri was divorced from Mel. Brien II was still single . Dionne was married to Brien's brother Ransom. Ransom died and Dionne is left alone with a child, Lacey Cameron, under the protection and care of Brien II.
